Tanja Grensing has been immersed in the world of dog training from a young age. She qualified as a therapy dog handler at just ten years old and began training her Golden Retriever, Molly, the following year. By the age of fourteen, she was already leading training classes, laying the foundation for her career as a professional dog trainer.

Tanja has a particular passion for helping puppies and their owners get off to the best possible start. She enjoys teaching everything from essential life skills to fun tricks that strengthen the bond between dogs and their families. In addition to puppy classes and individual training sessions, she also assists with agility and play groups, bringing enthusiasm and creativity to every lesson.

Her commitment to continuing education has led her to complete numerous online courses and workshops, including the IMDT Canine Body Language and Aggression workshops and the Puppy Lab course through the School of Canine Science. This ongoing learning ensures that her training methods remain current, practical and firmly grounded in modern behavioural science.

Tanja and Molly also made history as the first Caring Friends Therapy Dogs team to achieve the KUSA Canine Good Citizen Gold Award, reflecting the high standard of training and partnership they developed together.

Tanja is a registered member of the South African Board for Companion Animal Professionals (SABCAP) as a Professional Dog Trainer and Animal Assisted Activities Practitioner. She also serves on the SABCAP committee, where she is responsible for producing and managing the organisation’s professional journal.
